Cowork is not a chat box. It searches records, reads the inside of attachments, produces documents and, when you allow it, creates and updates records. That is the difference from asking a language model a question.

What is in the panel

• Context. When you are on a quotation and say "summarise this", it does not ask which quotation.
• The answering model. Under every answer it says which model answered. Since the system works with models from eight providers, this is part of judging the answer.
• Tier choice. Fast / balanced / strong / reasoning. Which model runs in which tier is decided by measurement through a regular bake-off.
• Model pinning. You can choose a specific model. Pinning is strict: if the model you chose cannot answer, the system does not silently switch to another; it reports an error by name.
• Background. Long jobs continue while the panel is closed and appear in the panel when finished.

What it can do

What it does not invent

• A promise is kept with a tool call. Commitments made in the text with no matching action are caught and reported to you.
• There is no delegation of rights. Tools run with the calling user's rights; it cannot read you a record you cannot see.
• Writing can be undone. The difference of every change made is stored.
• Going out to the network passes through one gate and is controlled.

Inside office documents

Cowork AI for PORTWARE Office brings the same assistant into the Word, Excel and presentation editors: rewriting selected text, summarising, translating, producing tables and fetching data from the system — without leaving the document.

Who did it, from where

In the history (chatter) of every record Cowork changes, the PORTWARE Cowork badge sits beside the person, the time and the old → new value; a change from the Office editor says "PORTWARE Office", one from the digital team carries the assistant's name. Click the badge to open the conversation that made the change. An Undo from the panel is recorded with the same badge.

Administrators see all of it in PORTWARE AI → AI Changes: the channel and client columns separate Cowork, MCP (Claude, ChatGPT…) and digital-team changes; deletions are there too.

Daily briefing

PORTWARE AI Daily Briefing produces a short check every morning: customers left untouched for a long time, opportunities without follow-up, incomplete records, overdue activities. Not a report but a work list to click on.

Cost

The cost of every turn is recorded: which model, how many tokens, what it came to. A model without a defined price is reported as "unpriced"; it is not shown as zero, because zero would mean "free".

Limits

• Cowork is not asked for decisions on rights, prices or discounts.
• Irreversible accounting operations are not given to Cowork.
• Sending anything outside the system passes human approval.
• Company-specific abbreviations are better written once into the company memory than explained every time.
