Manufacturing Cost, Stock Valuation and Account Categories
A manufacturing order is priced at its planned cost when created and settled with its actual cost and variance when done. Periodic stock closing runs every day without failing. Journal items carry the chart's main category, category and sub-category, each in its colour.

Manufacturing Order Cost
A manufacturing order has a Cost tab.
- Planned. When the order is created, component and labour cost, the total and the unit cost are computed, with the basis they were priced from. Update from today's costs refreshes the plan.
- Actual. When the order is done, the actual cost, unit cost and the variance against the plan appear.
Stock Valuation Closing
Odoo 19's periodic stock closing counts a day with nothing to post as an error and switches itself off after a few quiet days; monthly closing never runs. In PORTWARE an empty day is skipped, each company closes on its own and month-end adds the monthly companies. Nothing for the user to do.
Account Categories
Every journal item takes its main category, category and sub-category from its account's groups. Each group has its own colour. Grouping the list by main category, or opening categories in a pivot, reads the balance sheet and income statement like a tree.
